Matthew 25 gets to support a lot of amazing kids in the Taylor and Time Check Neighborhoods. These kids bring amazing gifts of laughter, music and childhood honesty to the mix. Part of what makes these kids special is that many of them are pushing through significant barriers in their lives. For example, more than 80% of the school kids in these areas receive free or reduced lunches. Whether it is a lack of financial resources or other challenging living situations, many of these kids keep pressing forward, sharing their gifts with us and others.
It is our joy to be able to support them through volunteer mentors in reading and music, summer fun, free summer lunches and with resources throughout the school year. Our belief is that if we can help to ignite a spark in these kids or keep a passion burning, they will have the drive to break through any barrier that may stand in their way. Matthew 25 gives great thanks to all those individuals, faith communities and other organizations that generously give of their time and finances to support these kids.
