Clothing Swap

June 11 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Matthew 25 and Green Iowa AmeriCorps are hosting a FREE Clothing Exchange in the Groundswell Coworking space from 5-8 pm on June 11. Groundswell Coworking is located at 201 Third Ave SW in Cedar Rapids.
Bring clean, gently used clothing, and pick out some new-to-you items brought by others. You’ll bring your clothes, shoes, purses, and accessories, place them on the tables by size, and then browse the rest of the clothes and accessories to take when you’d like. We encourage those ages 18+ of all genders to join this clothing swap, no ticket or registration required.
Additionally, at 5:30 pm we will have a Clothing Sustainability Workshop, led by Emily Stochl of Pre-Loved Podcast. This workshop will cover topics like the cost of fast fashion, debunk myths about how our clothes are made, and offer the realities of the clothing production process, from start to finish, and other topics.
Emily is a writer, journalist, and podcast creator, with expertise in the vintage and secondhand fashion industry, sustainability, and labor rights activism. She is the producer and host of Pre-Loved Podcast, a progressive and intersectional weekly interview show exploring the vintage, thrift and secondhand industry: all its stories, and all its angles.
She is also the Advocacy Manager for the global fashion nonprofit, Remake, Emily where she helps lead ambassador engagement and community management, specifically around the Garment Worker Protection Act, Pay Up, and No New Clothes campaigns. Her goal is to make policy information and industry topics easy to understand, and to communicate to others, believing that we all have a role to play in making fashion a force for good.
